Content creator and self-styled financial advisor, Geh Geh, has responded to growing calls for a ban on his online platform, “Geh Geh University of Wisdom.”
The reaction follows a petition submitted to the National Universities Commission by a coalition of Nigerian academics, students, alumni, and concerned citizens.
The petition urged the NUC to take regulatory action against parody institutions operating on social media under names that include “university.” Among those mentioned were Geh Geh University and Blessing CEO University.
The coalition expressed concern that such platforms, though comedic in nature, could undermine the credibility of real tertiary institutions that students strive to attend.
According to the petitioners, the use of the term “university” by comedians and influencers might mislead the public and diminish the value of genuine academic institutions in Nigeria.
Describing the petition as disheartening, Geh Geh shared his disappointment on social media.
“This is so Heart breaking!ng for me…Nigerians please help me beg the president…please,” he wrote in a caption addressed to his followers.
The content creator’s appeal to his fanbase included a plea for public support in reaching President Bola Tinubu, urging intervention on his behalf amid the controversy.
The debate continues to stir reactions online, as discussions around regulation, satire, and freedom of expression unfold.
