Israeli air raids in central Gaza on Sunday night have resulted in more than 100 casualties, with over 70 people killed in strikes at Maghazi refugee camp and additional casualties reported in the Bureij refugee camp.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health revealed the grim statistics late on Sunday, and the death toll is expected to rise.

Health Ministry spokesperson Ashraf al-Qudra described the situation in Maghazi as a “massacre” and emphasized that the death toll is likely to increase.

The Maghazi refugee camp, one of the most densely populated areas in the middle of Gaza, has been severely affected, with residential squares being targeted.

Reports indicate that dozens more people are injured, and several houses have been destroyed, leaving families digging through the rubble in search of survivors.

The attacks have not spared hospitals, with bodies piling up at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital.

Hani Mahmoud, reporting from Rafah in southern Gaza, highlighted the widespread destruction caused by the bombings, affecting neighborhoods and infrastructure. He noted that the vast majority of the victims are women and children, emphasizing that “we were all targeted” and lamenting the lack of safe places in Gaza.

Tareq Abu Azzoum, reporting from Rafah, described the Maghazi camp as “completely flattened,” comparing it to a previous attack on the Jabalia refugee camp. He stated that civilians, including a two-week-old baby, have been among the casualties, terming the situation a “genocide.”

Despite the recent UN Security Council resolution aimed at boosting aid to Gaza, the scale of air raids has intensified, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.

The deteriorating medical care system in Gaza is now on the verge of collapse, according to reports.

Hamas condemned the air attack on the Maghazi camp, labeling it a “horrific massacre” and a “new war crime.” Israel’s military spokesperson’s office has stated that it is looking into the reports of the attack.
