Mali secured their quarter-final berth with a 2-1 victory over Burkina Faso. Edmond Tapsoba’s early own goal and Lassie Sinayoko’s composed finish propelled Mali to a 2-0 lead, before Bertrand Traore pulled one back from the penalty spot.
In a surprising turn of events, South Africa stunned tournament favorites Morocco with a 2-0 triumph. Evidence Makgopa and Teboho Mokoena found the net for the Bafana Bafana, securing a memorable victory.
Mali is set to face Ivory Coast in the quarter-finals, while South Africa will square off against Cape Verde.
