A fuel-laden tanker exploded in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, on Saturday evening, causing panic in the area.

According to Channels News, the incident occurred around 6:30 pm in the Soka area of Ore when the tanker reportedly veered off the road and fell into a nearby ditch.

An eyewitness said the tanker caught fire immediately after falling into the ditch, sending thick smoke into the air. The fire caused reduced visibility and heavy traffic in the area.

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission in Ondo State, Samuel Ibitoye, confirmed the incident.

Ibitoye stated that, thankfully, no lives were lost in the explosion. “We can confirm that there has been no fatality recorded as a result of the fire,” he said.

Emergency responders were deployed to the scene to manage the situation and restore normalcy. Residents were advised to stay clear of the area for their safety.

Efforts are ongoing to clear the wreckage and ensure the road is safe for use.
