The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four men, including a fuel station manager, for allegedly being part of an armed robbery gang operating in parts of the state.

The suspects, identified as Noble Saint Neokoro, 44, Batomie Samson, 48, Abubakar Ali, 47, and Bitrus Ibrahim, 42, were arrested in the Ejigbo area following a tip-off and secret investigation.

A police source said the owner of the filling station where the suspects operated claimed he knew nothing about the criminal activities.

The arrested manager and his gang reportedly confessed to being involved in multiple robberies.

Confirming the arrest, the police spokesperson in Lagos, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the operation was carried out by the Tactical Squad Hawk.

Hundeyin also said the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers helped in arresting the manager. He added that the arrest was part of a larger operation connected to an earlier case involving fuel tanker hijacking.

According to him, the command had earlier nabbed seven suspects linked to a hijacked fuel tanker. The tanker, which was reported missing by its driver at the Surulere Police Division, was later found empty in Orile.

Police traced the stolen petrol to a filling station in Ejigbo, where the new suspects were caught. Those arrested earlier include Izuchukwu Nwanoruo, Kayode Falodun, Ojo Ayodele, Ayomide Thompson, Ahmed Saliu, Igbalaye Kareem, and Babatunde Ahmed.

The Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, praised the officers for their quick action and urged the public to keep sharing useful information with the police. He assured that the suspects would be charged once investigations are complete.
