The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has explained that the current fuel shortages in Lagos and the Federal Capital Territory are due to problems with discharging fuel from several vessels.

Chief Corporate Communications Officer at NNPC Ltd., Mr. Olufemi Soneye, made this announcement on Saturday. He said the company is working hard to fix the problem and return the situation to normal.

Soneye stated, “The NNPC Ltd. wishes to state that the tightness in fuel supply and distribution witnessed in some parts of Lagos and the FCT is as a result of a hitch in the discharge operations of a couple of vessels.”

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), fuel stations in the FCT began experiencing long queues on Friday. Many motorists were seen waiting in line, and some stations were closed.

Soneye reassured the public that the company, along with other stakeholders, is making every effort to resolve the issue. “We are working round the clock to restore normalcy in the operations,” he added.
