Fubara warns against sabotage of government projects

Published

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has issued a stern warning to any individuals or groups contemplating interference with government projects, cautioning them against acts of sabotage.

The warning came during his inspection of the ongoing construction at the 20,000 housing units project situated along the Obiri-Ikwerre-Airport Road in the Ikwerre local government area.

Accompanied by Mustapha Njie, the MD/CEO of TAF Africa Global, Governor Fubara expressed dismay at reports of community members threatening to disrupt construction activities at the site.

Emphasizing the meticulous planning preceding the project, Fubara clarified that the land belonged to the Rivers State government under the Greater Port Harcourt City Development Authority, dispelling notions of encroachment.

In his own words, Governor Fubara stated, “I am also aware that some of the community people are coming up with issues. But let it be clear, we didn’t jump into this project, we did all the surveys that we needed to do. We took our time to check the land. It is a property that belongs to the Rivers State government under the Greater Port Harcourt City Development Authority.”

He continued, “We are not taking anybody’s land. However, if you feel that there is an encroachment, you should know the right authority to visit. Nobody should come here and disrupt the Contractor, that is the truth because am going to take it personally as sabotage to my government.”

Asserting the importance of adherence to proper channels for grievances, Fubara underscored that any disruption to the project would be perceived as a personal affront to his administration.

He pledged zero tolerance for sabotage, affirming that despite advocating for peace, he would not hesitate to confront any individual disrupting the project’s progress.

In his closing remarks, the governor commended the contractor’s dedication, noting the significant transformation of the site from a mere bush to a burgeoning housing development.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to providing decent housing for its citizens, echoing sentiments expressed by the President during the groundbreaking ceremony for the Renewed Hope City, emphasizing the fundamental right of every Nigerian to a dignified home.
