The Federal Road Safety Corps has entered into a partnership with Dangote Cement Transport to tackle the rising cases of crashes involving articulated vehicles linked to the company.

The agreement was sealed at the FRSC headquarters in Abuja during a meeting between Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, and representatives of Dangote Cement Transport, led by Murillo Silva.

In a statement signed by the Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide, the FRSC boss described the move as a timely response to public concerns over frequent accidents involving Dangote trucks.

“This engagement is more than a response to recent incidents. It is a proactive step to ensure lives are saved, confidence is restored, and Nigerians are assured of safer highways. Together with Dangote Cement Transport, we must drive down crash figures through training, compliance, and innovation,” Mohammed said.

The meeting agreed on new safety measures such as structured training and retraining programmes for Dangote drivers, regular vehicle maintenance, and installation of safety devices to prevent mechanical failures.

Both parties also discussed joint safety projects that would not only target Dangote trucks but serve as a model for other fleet operators nationwide.

Mohammed further called on other transport companies to open their operations for safety audits and adopt joint training initiatives.

The move comes amid public outcry following a recent crash involving a Dangote truck in Auchi, Edo State, which claimed the life of Ruth Otabor, sister of Big Brother Naija star, Phyna.

Otabor, a young mother and graduate, sustained severe injuries after the crash on August 13, 2025, and later died after an amputation.
