The Federal Road Safety Corps has confirmed that seven people died and 70 others were injured in a lone accident in Kano on Sunday.

The Sector Commander, Idris Muhammed-Lawal, disclosed this in a statement by the FRSC Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Labaran.

The accident occurred around 8:35 a.m. along Hadejia Road at Kwanar Danja. It involved a DAF trailer with registration number KTG 467 YG, which was loaded with both goods and passengers.

According to the FRSC, a total of 105 people were involved in the crash. Seven lost their lives, 70 (55 males and 15 females) sustained various injuries, and 28 were unhurt.

Muhammed-Lawal attributed the cause to speeding, loss of control, and the dangerous practice of mixing goods with passengers.

The injured were evacuated to four hospitals: Sir Sunusi Specialist Hospital, Gezawa General Hospital, Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, and Abdullahi Wase Specialist Hospital in Nasarawa.

The sector commander commiserated with the families of the deceased and warned motorists, especially commercial drivers, against speeding, reckless driving, and illegal conveyance of passengers in goods vehicles. He urged the public to comply with traffic regulations to prevent avoidable loss of lives.
