Lagos State Government, through Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on Tuesday, January 12 announced that no fewer than 114 roads would be constructed in the 57 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the State.

The governor assured that more roads will be accommodated in the next phase of the project.

According to Governor Ambode, the project, which is being fully funded by the State Government, will be constructed two per each LGAs and LCDAs, and is expected to be completed within six months.

Since that time, photos have surfaced on the internet and on pages of national dailies showing new roads being commissioned by Governor Ambode or one of his representatives.

This and other laudable works being witnessed in Lagos metropolis had always brought praises to the administration of Ambode.

However, on Monday, September 26, 2016, a Facebook user, Sunshine Anifowose, posted pitiful images of Itokin road which he claimed was commissioned last week by Governor Ambode.

Though photos have not been proven to be authentic, but since they emerged online they have generated mixed reactions from Nigerians on Facebook.

While many commenters said the Itokin road was not among the roads recently commissioned by the Lagos State Government, others blamed both government and the contractors that constructed the road for shoddy job.
