Four security guards caught stealing N2.5m aluminium products from employer

Four security guards were on Wednesday brought before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State for allegedly attempting to steal aluminium products valued at N2.5 million.

The police charged the defendants: Adekanbi Kabiru, 37, Onuh Isaac, 27, Jonathan Udoh, 33, and Solomon Adah, 32, with attempted stealing and conspiracy.

The prosecutor, Insp. E. O. Adaraloye, told the court that the defendants and others still at large, committed the offences on March 11 at Lloyds Aluminium Industry, Opposite All-Over Polytechnic, Ota.

Adaraloye said the defendants, security guards at Lloyds Industry, attempted to steal some aluminum products valued at N2.5 million.

He said the offences contravened Sections 509 and 516 of the Criminal Code Caps C38, Laws of Ogun State, 2006.

They defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Magistrate A.O. Adeyemi, admitted the defendants to N50, 000 bail each with one surety in like sum.

Adeyemi oredered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed, with evidence of tax payment to Ogun State government.

She adjourned the case until April 29 for judgment.
