Former Supreme Court Justice, Adolphus Karibi-Whyte, dies at 88

Retired Supreme Court Justice Adolphus Karibi-Whyte died on Friday aged 88.

Karibi-Whyte, who was Chairman of the Nigerian Constitutional Conference between 1994 and 95 died of a heart attack in Port Harcourt.

He was born on January 29,1932, in Abonnema, River State.

He read law in England and was called to the bar in 1961.

He was at different times Solicitor-General in Rivers State, Associate Professor of Law, University of Lagos, Federal Revenue Court judge, Court of Appeal judge and Supreme Court justice.

He was also Judge, International Criminal Tribunal

He was a Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) (1998) and Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR) (2008).

He is survived by a wife and six children
