A former chief justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, Aloysius Iyorgyer Katsina-Alu, is dead.
He was 76 years old.
Katsina-Alu died on Wednesday morning in a hospital in Abuja after a brief illness.
Katsina-Alu was sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria on Wednesday 30 December 2009 by his predecessor as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Idris Legbo Kutigi, since the then president, Umaru Yar’Adua, who was unavailable on account of ill health, had failed to hand over to his Vice President
