A former Director of Public Affairs at the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, Abubakar Jimoh, has appealed to Nigerians to forgive the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, attributing the shortcomings of his administration to powerful figures within his inner circle.

In a statement released on Monday, Jimoh claimed that Buhari’s government was sabotaged by individuals popularly referred to as “cabals,” who, according to him, wielded significant influence and undermined the president’s intentions.

He asserted that Buhari assumed office with sincere plans for national development, but was ultimately let down by those closest to him.

“Late President Buhari had the best of plans and intentions to rescue Nigeria from maladministration, economic woes, poverty, and insecurity.

“Unfortunately, some members of his kitchen cabinet who were entrusted with significant responsibilities betrayed that trust and derailed his lofty vision for the country.

“I totally disagree with anyone who claims there were no cabals during Buhari’s administration,” Jimoh said.

Jimoh emphasized that such influential figures exist in every government and often act behind the scenes to manipulate or redirect key policies. He explained that these individuals often override the president’s intentions and frustrate genuine efforts to deliver good governance.

“This is why I am asking Nigerians to forgive Buhari. Let us rather blame the cabals who derailed his administration. This is a vital lesson for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure his own kitchen cabinet does not sabotage his Renewed Hope agenda,” Jimoh added.
