Nottingham Forest ended Aston Villa’s six-game unbeaten run in the Premier League with a 2-0 victory at the City Ground on Sunday.

The hosts took an early lead when Ola Aina fired a stunning shot from distance into the bottom corner in the fifth minute.

They doubled their advantage just after the break when Orel Mangala’s long-range effort slipped through the hands of Emiliano Martinez.

Villa had more of the ball in the second half but could not find a way past the Forest defence, which was led by Moussa Niakhate.

The win lifted Forest to 12th in the table, while Villa dropped to seventh.
