A five-year-old schoolgirl, identified as Hanifa Abubakar, has been kidnapped at Kawaji in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State.
The pupil was whisked away by kidnappers riding commercial tricycle, locally called Keke Marwa after the latter offered to give her a lift home..
The incident occurred at about 5pm, on Saturday, December 4, when the victim and other children in the neighbourhood were returning from an Islamic school.
“The distance from her home to the Islamiyya school is not far. So children normally trek to the school in group on their own,” said her uncle, Suraj Zubair.
Suraju said the other children who witnessed the incident told him how Hanifa was abducted.
The kidnappers were said to have offered to hitchhike them to their home.
At the time of filing this report, Suraju said a report had been filed at the Kano State Police Command.
He said the whereabouts of Hanifa were still unknown and that the kidnappers had yet to contact her family members.
