Published

Nigerian passport holders usually require a visa prior to entry into a lot of countries. And sometimes, these visas are extremely tough to get.

Some embassies would deny you out-rightly if you’ve never had a stamp on your passport. This is after the applicant would have paid visa fee running into thousands of naira.

In any case, this shouldn’t be a reason for you not to travel if you’re interested in doing so.

Currently, there are about 44 countries (including ECOWAS countries) a Nigerian passport holder can travel to without the need to get a visa prior to entry.

Below are five top countries a Nigerian passport holder can travel abroad to visa free:

– Saint Kitts and Nevis: Saint Kitts and Nevis is a dual-island nation situated between the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea. It’s known for cloud-shrouded mountains and beaches. The larger of the 2 islands, Saint Kitts, is dominated by the dormant Mount Liamuiga volcano, home to a crater lake, green vervet monkeys and rainforest crisscrossed with hiking trails.

For a Nigerian passport holder travelling to Sant Kitts and Nevis, visa is not required except if you want to stay for more than 3 months. Passport or passport replacing documents must be valid on arrival. Also, visitors not holding return/onward tickets could be refused entry.

Maldives offers a visa on arrival for 30 days to Nigerian passport holders.

– Fiji: Fiji, a country in the South Pacific, is an archipelago of more than 300 islands. It’s famed for its rugged landscape of blue lagoons and palm-lined beaches, and eco-activities from mountain climbing and surfing to soft-coral diving and zip-lining.
