No fewer than five suspects have been arrested by the Nigeria Security Civil Defence Corps in Kano for alleged vandalism and theft.
According to the VANGUARD, this update was shared in a statement by the Commandant of the Corps in Kano State, Mohammad Lawal-Falala, on Tuesday in Kano.
He said the anti-vandalism unit of the corps apprehended the suspects during midnight patrols.
One of the suspects, 26-year-old Adnan Umar and the other, 24-year-old Musa Shuayb, were caught vandalising streetlight armoured cables on IBB Way, Fagge/Kofar Wambai’s new market.
He said they were also attempting to steal three rolls of copper wire.
In a separate incident, the commandant likewise stated that the corps arrested three suspected motorcycle thieves, including the receiver of the stolen motorcycle.
The suspects are 19-year-old Saminu Magaji, 22-year-old Haruna Idris, and 38-year-old Ahmed Abubakar. The receiver noted that two other suspects are still at large.
He alleged that the suspects, who hail from Gwammaja, Dala LGA, Kano State, specialised in homes, stealing motorcycles and personal belongings.
He said the suspects were being investigated and would be charged in court upon completing the investigation.
