It is about 900 days now since more than 200 girls were shanghaied from their school in Chibok, Borno State.

There have been many calls by people around the world on the government to help rescue the girls. Celebrities around the world, including president of the United States, Barack Obama and his wife had joined the call to Bring Back the Girls.

President Goodluck Jonathan, under whose administration the whole drama started had then assured assured the Chibok community that he was working hard with the appropriate agencies and doing everything humanly possible to rescue the more than 200 schoolgirls kidnapped in April 2014. But nothing came out of the promise.

Rescue of the girls formed one of the major campaign points of the Muhammadu Buhari led administration. But little has been seen in terms of results.

Many people who joined the call to bring back the girls already gave up, but the release of videos tagged as ‘proof of life’ by viewers kept the hope alive.

A group at the forefront of the campaign is the #BBOG movement led by former minister of education and co-founder of Transparency International, Oby Ezekwesili.

The struggle is still on. While some people condemn the campaign as mere showmanism, close watchers, parents and relatives of the kidnapped girls know it is not for show.

Here are five pictures that show that the it is no joke and a timeline of the kidnap.
