At least five people sustained injuries in an accident on Ifako Bridge, Ogudu area of Lagos State, on Sunday.

In a separate incident on the same day, two cows were killed after being struck by a vehicle in Iyana-Oworo.

According to a statement from the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment at the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Adebayo Taofiq, the first accident involved a minibus with registration number MUS 576 YJ and a commercial Mazda bus. The driver of the Mazda bus, reportedly eating while driving, lost control of the vehicle, leading to the collision.

Taofiq revealed that five passengers, one male and four females, were injured and taken to the Lagos State Accident and Emergency Centre on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. LASTMA operatives and emergency services responded swiftly to the scene.

“At around 10:30 a.m., a commercial Mazda bus lost control due to the driver’s distraction while eating, exacerbated by a brake failure, resulting in a collision with a Korope mini-bus,” Taofiq stated.

In another incident on the same day, an Acura SUV (AAA 818 HV) struck two cows at Iyana-Oworo, inward Ogudu, while a herd of cattle was crossing the expressway, killing the animals and damaging the vehicle.

LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed his sympathies to the victims of the accident and urged motorists to exercise caution and avoid dangerous driving practices.
