Nigerian musician and relationship coach Peeshaun has shared his two cents on dating and relationship dynamics in Nigeria.
He stated that while five sexual partners is too high for a woman, 50 is acceptable for a man.
Peeshaun, whose real name is Atewologun Laolu-Ogunniyi, made the comments during an appearance on The OffAir Season podcast hosted by media personalities Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi and Toolz (Tolu Oniru).
The musician, who is the younger brother in the Afro hip-hop duo Skuki alongside Vavavoom (Tumininu Laolu-Ogunniyi), describes himself as “Nigeria’s Number 1 Professional relationship coach.”Nigerian musician and relationship coach Peeshaun has shared his two cents on dating and relationship dynamics in Nigeria.
During the discussion about dating dynamics in modern Nigeria, Peeshaun shared his views on what he considers acceptable sexual history for men versus women.
“If you take the issue of body count for instance, a man if a man has had 50 body counts. I slept with 50 women. And he’s at a point in his life where he’s doing well. He’s calmed down. That body count is even part of reason why you even get a good girl. You get any girl whether I want good girl or say me good girl. But if a girl comes out and says that’s a body count of 50, it will work against her,” Peeshaun stated.
When asked whether he considered 50 to be a high or low number for a man, Peeshaun responded that it was not particularly high.
“For me I don’t even think it’s that high for a guy. But for a girl five is like getting too high,” he said.
The statement immediately drew strong reactions from the podcast hosts, with Toolz exclaiming: “OH FOR GOD’S SAKE.”
When challenged about why five partners would be too many for a woman, Peeshaun defended his position.
“Five is five. Why? What is this doing sleeping with five guys all around?” he asked.
The hosts pointed out the double standard in his thinking, noting that there are derogatory terms used for women with multiple partners but no equivalent terms for men.
“Now for man I say ho is woman. There’s no word like that for a man,” Peeshaun acknowledged, but still maintained his position.
The podcast hosts asked others in the studio whether they agreed with Peeshaun’s statement that five partners is too much for a woman.
During the discussion, Peeshaun also shared his general philosophy about what men and women prioritize in relationships.
“A man is concerned about a woman’s past. A woman is concerned about a man’s future,” he said.
Peeshaun specializes in communication and intimacy coaching and authored the Amazon bestseller “Make Him Worship You.” He runs an online series called P.G.G.C (Peeshaun’s Guy Girl Code) and offers counseling services.
The musician first gained fame as part of Skuki with hits like “Banger” in 2009 and won the Next Rated award at the 2010 Headies.
