FirstPower Electricity Distribution Limited has announced that parts of Anambra State will experience a three-hour power outage on Sunday, December 7, 2025.

The company made this known in a statement on Friday, saying the interruption is necessary to allow the Transmission Company of Nigeria to install a new transformer and adjust some connections at the Onitsha Transmission Station.

According to the statement, the work will involve bringing in the TR13 60MVA transformer and reconfiguring outgoing feeders. The company also said the MOBITRA 40MVA and 45MVA transformers, along with the 1T1 100MVA 132/33KV transformer, will be opened to create a safe space for the engineers.

The statement said, “There will be a planned power outage on Sunday, December 7, 2025, from 10am to 1pm. This is to enable the Transmission Company of Nigeria crew to bring in its TR13 60MVA transformer and reconfigure the outgoing feeders at the Onitsha Transmission Station.”

It added, “As a result of this, the following 33KV feeders will be affected: Army Barracks, Awada, Obosi, Umunya, Juddy Bolema, Nnewi Oba, Nnewi Industrial, Ossomala, 3-3, Niccus and Ogidi. Also affected are the Nwaziki 11KV and Woliwo 11KV feeders.”

The company said customers on these lines will not have electricity during the three-hour maintenance work.

“We sincerely regret the inconvenience this may cause our esteemed customers and count on their understanding as this exercise is geared towards improving service reliability,” the company said. “FPEDL assures her customers of its commitment to providing satisfactory services.”

Late last month, the Anambra State Government issued an interim licence to FirstPower as an electricity distributor in the state. The chairman of the Anambra State Electricity Regulatory Commission, Prof. Frank Okafor, said during the licence presentation that the state is working to ensure steady power supply across all communities.

He said the government wants Anambra to remain a preferred destination for businesses and residents, adding that this cannot happen if electricity remains unreliable.
