Fire razes Adidas store at Abuja’s Jabi Lake Mall

A fire broke out at the Jabi Lake Mall in Abuja early Thursday morning, destroying the Adidas Sports store.

The incident, which started around 3am, was quickly contained by firefighters from the Federal Fire Service, the Berger Fire Department, and the FCT Fire Service, who were deployed alongside police officers.

Although the cause of the fire is yet to be determined, no casualties were recorded.

A resident of Jabi, Saliu, who witnessed the incident, told our correspondent that the situation was brought under control before dawn.

He said, “Around 3am this morning, there was a fire incident at the Jabi Lake Mall. No loss of life or injury was recorded. Only the Adidas Sports shop was affected.”

Confirming the incident, the FCT Police spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, said officers were deployed to secure the scene and prevent looting.

“We received a distress call at about 3:40 a.m. We immediately deployed our men there to secure the place and prevent any breach of public order,” she said.

The incident comes days after a fire outbreak destroyed goods worth millions of naira at the Old Karu Market in Abuja, which was contained by officials from the FCT Fire Service, Federal Fire Service, and Julius Berger Fire Department.
