Fire guts part of Lagos airport

An inferno broke out on Wednesday at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, causing panic among passengers and airline operators. 

The smoke incident was reported at Terminal 1 and was found to have originated from the basement of the terminal building.

According to the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Abdullahi Yakubu-Funtua,

 FAAN,  “Promptly responding to the situation, the dedicated firefighters from the Aerodrome Rescue and Fire Fighting Services (ARFFS) of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport initiated immediate action. Their swift response and professional efforts have successfully brought the situation under control.

The terminal building was evacuated due to the smoke, and the situation is now under control. 

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria stated that it remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of passengers, staff, and all airport users.
