Fire guts Lagos TCN power sub-station

A fire broke out on Saturday night, engulfing the Transmission Company of Nigeria power sub-station at Maryland junction, Maryland, Lagos State.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, with initial reports suggesting a possible spark due to a sudden upsurge in power supply. The incident occurred around 8:06 pm.

Eyewitnesses reported that the fire was promptly extinguished by the men of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service from the Ilupeju Fire Station.

The Director of State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, confirmed that an investigation into the cause of the fire and an enumeration of valuables affected were ongoing.

In a late-night statement, Adeseye stated, “The fire that erupted at the Transmission Company of Nigeria power sub-station at Maryland Junction, Maryland, at about 20:06 hours has been put out by the gallantry crew of the Ilupeju Fire Crew of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service. No casualties were recorded as an investigation into the cause of the fire and the enumeration of valuables affected is ongoing.”

She reassured the public that no lives were lost in the incident.
