A fire has destroyed tools worth billions of naira at the National Social Investment Programme Agency warehouse in the Idu area of Abuja.

These tools were meant for training N-Power beneficiaries under NSIPA.

The Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Yusuf Sununu, has set up a five-member committee to investigate the incident and assess the damage. The committee has two weeks to submit its findings.

Speaking during a visit to the warehouse, Dr. Sununu said, “The committee will estimate the cost of the items destroyed by the fire. We will also put measures in place to protect other items in our warehouses and begin training the beneficiaries soon so that what has been procured can be utilized.”

The minister expressed gratitude to the Federal Fire Service, FCT Fire Service, and Julius Berger for their quick response in controlling the fire. He also thanked the Nigeria Police, Life Camp Division, for providing security to prevent vandalism of the remaining items.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, but the ministry has assured Nigerians that preventive measures will be implemented to avoid such incidents in the future.
