The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has successfully put out a major fire that broke out at Imperio International, a factory on Ayodele Diyan Street in Ikeja, on Tuesday night.

The Director of the Lagos Fire Service, Margaret Adeseye, shared this update in a statement on Thursday.

Adeseye explained that the fire, which caused significant damage to goods like body sprays, perfumes, and creams, was mostly contained within a part of the twin warehouse structure. The fire’s spread was prevented, especially in areas used for production where raw materials and equipment are stored. “This prevented what could have been a more severe incident due to the volatile materials in the factory,” Adeseye noted.

According to Adeseye, the fire was brought under control by early Wednesday morning, and fire crews worked to put out any remaining embers as the operation shifted to the recovery stage. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and findings will be shared once the process is complete. Fortunately, there were no casualties in the incident.

The firefighting effort was supported by private and public organizations, including Godrej Safety Department, Mouka Foam, Nigerchin, and emergency services like LASEMA, LASAMBUS, and the Nigerian Police.

“This reflects true public-private partnership and cooperation,” Adeseye stated, commending the collective efforts that helped bring the fire under control.
