An early morning fire outbreak which occurred on Friday has razed down the Lafia modern market located in Nasarawa State.
It was reported that the fire destroyed goods worth millions of naira in the Lafia Modern Market in Nasarawa.
The fire began at about 9:45am on Friday.
According to the Cable, the director of the fire service in the state,Joshua Ombugu,stated that the incident was caused by the dumpsite near the market.
Ombugu said the service was able to salvage properties worth about N10 million, while properties estimated at N150 million were destroyed.
He added that no lives were lost.
“The incident took place at 21:54hrs. The fire was caused by the dumpsite,” Ombugu said.
“We estimated the property lost to be worth about N150 million and the property we were able to save worth about N10 million.
“There was no casualty. We mobilised our men swiftly and five fire ambulances were sent to the site of the incident.”
