Fiorentina have sacked head coach Stefano Pioli following a poor run of form that saw the club go ten Serie A games without a win.
The decision came two days after Fiorentina suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Lecce, leaving the team rooted to the bottom of the league table with just four points from ten matches.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the club said, “Fiorentina can confirm that Stefano Pioli has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the first team. Daniele Galloppa will take charge of the first team temporarily, starting from this afternoon’s training session.”
The club’s management described the move as necessary to revive their season and said they were already searching for a new manager who could restore competitiveness to the squad.
Pioli was reappointed in July after a brief spell with Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia. He previously managed Fiorentina between 2017 and 2019 and spent five years at AC Milan before leaving at the end of the 2023–24 season.
Fiorentina’s next Serie A match will be away against Genoa on Sunday.
