Popular skit maker and actor Kamo State has shared insights into his early career ambitions, revealing that he initially dreamed of becoming a lawyer.

However, financial difficulties and concerns from his mother about funding his education led him to reconsider his path.

Instead of pursuing law, he chose to study performing arts, a decision that paved the way for his creative journey in content creation.

Kamo State began making content as early as 2012, but his major breakthrough came during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2019 and 2020, when his skits gained widespread recognition.

In a candid interview with Tobi Makinde, he said: “I really love your content for one year. Me, I’ve been doing content since 2012, yes. Man, 2012, I was seven in 2012. I’ve been creating content since 2012, but I can say my major break out happened in 2019. You guys 2020 during lockdown. Yeah, absolutely. So, basically, I wanted to be a lawyer. Yes. Yes.”

He went on to explain the challenges he faced growing up: “Actually, I was raised by a single mom, you know. Raising me with my siblings and my big sister. My siblings, generally, is so high for my mom. I got into, I got admission at the same time as my sister. It was a very difficult thing for my mom. The single mother, like, send us to school and all of that. So, I had to wait for my sister to go first.”

Kamo State described the moment his mother questioned his choice: “My mom called me and said, Kama, then it was like that. Thank you. Are you sure you want to do this? Who’s going to sponsor you? How do you want to do it? Wow. But I mean, I had to, like, rethink that.”

He reflected on his decision, adding, “Okay, what if I pass the money, I’m not going to do it, okay? Do you get it? So, I had to, like… Actually, I studied performing arts.”

The skit maker hinted at more details about his schooling, promising, “Wait, you’re about to know what I mean. Ah, oh, shit. Yes, now.”
