Final year student shot dead in suspected A’Ibom cult attack

A final-year student Computer Science student of the Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic simply identified as Prince has been shot dead by suspected cultists.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday along Abuja Street in Ikot Osurua, a community hosting the institution.

The Akwa Ibom police spokesperson, Timfon John, stated that the case was reported as robbery and cult talk in the area.

He said the victim was attacked in the presence of his friend.

John revealed that an ongoing investigation revealed the student died in the attack.

“The information at the command’s disposal is that it was a robbery and cultist operation,” he said.

“They entered a particular residence and robbed. And they shot someone who was later identified as a student.

But the investigation is ongoing.”

It was reported that Prince had just completed his final exams and was preparing to defend his project when he was killed.

The gunmen were said to have entered the compound and went to Prince’s room, where he was shot in the abdomen.

It was said that the victim’s female friend raised the alarm, prompting the neighbours to rush him to the hospital.
