Chelsea and England’s defender, Fikayo Tomori, has signed a new five-and-a-half-year deal at Stamford Bridge.
The 21-year-old has been given his chance by Frank Lampard this season and has not let him down – putting in a series of confident displays at the back with the Blues challenging for a top four spot.
Tomori has played 17 times this campaign, scoring once and forging a partnership with Kurt Zouma, with Gareth Southgate taking notice and calling him up for two squads and giving him his first cap against Kosovo.
The defender scored once in 15 games for the Blues so far this campaign while partnering Kurt Zouma at the heart of his side’s defense.
He was also part of the Rams team that almost got to the Premier League before losing to Aston Villa at the playoffs.
“It’s obviously a very proud moment for myself and my family. I’ve been at the club since I was seven years old so I don’t really know much else other than Chelsea,” Tomori said.
“The club has been so good to me, looking after and developing me during that time into the player and the person I am today.
“It’s a dream come true to sign a new five-year contract. I’m really happy the club have shown this faith in me and I’m just excited to carry on.”
At the age of eight, Tomori became the Chelsea and he was a serial winner throughout his time in the club’s academy, playing in the same team as Tammy Abraham for almost a decade.
In 2016, the defender was initially promoted to the Blues senior team before spending time on loan at Brighton and Hove Albion, Hull and Derby County.
