The world football governing body, FIFA, on Tuesday announced the Women’s Best 11 for the 2024/2025 season, celebrating players who stood out across club and international football.

The announcement was made during The Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony held at the Fairmont Katara Hall in Doha, Qatar.

The Women’s Best 11, also known as the FIFPRO World XI, recognises the top performers in world football based on votes from national team coaches, captains, journalists and fans across the globe.

According to FIFA, players were selected based on their performances between August 11, 2024, and August 2, 2025.

Spain dominated the final team with six players, reflecting the country’s continued strength in women’s football, while England had four players following their European Championship success.

The selected players are goalkeeper Hannah Hampton of Chelsea and England. The defenders are Lucy Bronze of Chelsea and England, Leah Williamson of Arsenal and England, Irene Paredes of Barcelona and Spain, and Ona Batlle of Barcelona and Spain.

The midfielders included Aitana Bonmatí of Barcelona and Spain, Patri Guijarro of Barcelona and Spain, Claudia Pina of Barcelona and Spain, and Alexia Putellas of Barcelona and Spain.

The forwards named in the team are Mariona Caldentey of Barcelona and Spain, and Alessia Russo of Arsenal and England.

Bonmatí, who was also crowned the FIFA Best Women’s Player, led Spain’s strong presence in the lineup.

FIFA explained that voting for the awards involved national team coaches, national team captains, selected journalists from each territory and football fans, with voters ranking their top three players in each category.

Points were then calculated to determine the highest-ranked players in each position, who made the final Best 11.

No Nigerian female footballer made the final team. However, FIFA noted that Nigerian defender Michelle Alozie earned a historic nomination for the 2025 FIFPRO Women’s World XI shortlist, although she did not make the final selection.
