The Federal Housing Authority has given estate developers in Lugbe, Karu, and Kubwa areas of the Federal Capital Territory three months to regularise their construction approvals.
In a statement on Sunday, the FHA also announced the suspension of all ongoing developments in these areas until developers provide the necessary documents.
“The suspension of all ongoing developments in these areas is to ensure compliance with FHA regulations. Developers must submit their documents to us for verification and approval,” the statement read.
Starting February 3, 2025, all developers must report to the FHA headquarters in Asokoro, Abuja, with key documents such as Letters of Allocation, Approved Building Plans, Payment Receipts, and proof of ownership, including consent letters for transferred properties.
The FHA also introduced a special amnesty for commercial property owners without the necessary approvals. Under this amnesty, developers have until May 3, 2025, to regularise their documents and obtain permits.
“This amnesty provides an opportunity for commercial property owners who have not completed their approvals to rectify the situation within three months. The amnesty window allows developers to ensure that all documentation is in order and that their projects comply with FHA guidelines,” the statement added.
The FHA warned that any developer who fails to comply with the new directives will face strict sanctions.
This initiative is part of the FHA’s effort to regulate real estate development and ensure that all construction projects are properly authorised.
