The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has warned Nigerians not to fall for fake offers claiming that the 753 houses seized by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission are up for sale.

The houses, which were forfeited to the Federal Government and handed over by the EFCC in May 2025, have become the subject of misleading claims by fraudsters pretending to be agents.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday, the ministry made it clear that no individual or company has been asked to sell the property on behalf of the government.

The statement, signed by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Badamasi Haiba, read, “The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has not engaged any individual or corporate entity to sell the 753 housing units recently handed over to the Federal Government by the EFCC. Members of the public are advised to disregard any such claims.”

When the houses were received from the EFCC, the Minister of Housing, Ahmed Dangiwa, had explained that the Federal Government would sell them through a fair and open process in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The ministry also cautioned that only the government will announce when the process begins.
