The Federal Government, under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, is set to repair all federal roads across Nigeria, according to Aderemi Oseni, the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on the Federal Road Maintenance Agency.

This initiative is part of Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda,” aimed at easing the suffering of Nigerians due to bad roads.

Oseni, who represents Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency in Oyo State, shared this news during a visit to the All Progressives Congress (APC) state secretariat in Ibadan on Monday. He acknowledged the poor condition of roads across the country and called for patience from the public.

He said, “Tinubu is not the cause of the challenges we are currently facing, including bad roads across the nation. These issues extend beyond the current administration. Tinubu is working diligently to resolve the problems created by previous administrations. As part of his Renewed Hope Agenda, he is making concerted efforts to repair all federal roads across Nigeria, easing the suffering of the masses.”

Oseni also offered condolences to the party over the recent passing of its former Chairman, Isaac Omodewu, and thanked APC members for their support during his election. Additionally, he donated N10 million to the party for operational purposes.

In response, the acting Chairman of APC in Oyo, Olayide Abas, expressed gratitude for Oseni’s visit and commended him for his efforts in improving his constituency.

The state of federal roads in Nigeria has become a significant concern, particularly in the northern regions, where many roads are described as death traps.

Many federal roads have been abandoned for years due to incompletion as far back as the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

This neglect has resulted in roads being characterized as “criminal hubs” due to the prevalence of armed robbery and kidnappings along these routes.

For example, In Katsina State, critical highways like the Funtua-Sheme Highway have been neglected, making travel perilous due to frequent kidnappings.

Niger State reports that almost all federal roads are in bad shape, forcing motorists to seek alternative routes, often at higher costs due to vehicle breakdowns and delays.

The Jos-Kaduna highway has been particularly problematic for over two decades, pushing drivers to find longer routes

This road repair plan is expected to bring relief to millions of Nigerians facing challenges due to poor infrastructure across the country.
