Commuters in Lagos may have reason to celebrate this festive season as the Federal Government on Friday temporarily opened Section 1 of the Lagos–Calabar coastal highway.
This stretch covers 47 kilometres, extending from the Ahmadu Bello Way junction to the Eleko village junction.
The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, announced the development during an event that drew government officials, traditional leaders, and other key stakeholders.
Speaking in Lagos, he said the partial opening would ease movement for road users and is expected to put an end to the challenging driving conditions previously experienced along the Lekki–Ajah corridor.
With Section 1 of the major road project now open to traffic, Umahi stated that the Federal Government has fulfilled its commitment to the public.
