The Federal Government has announced plans to begin emergency evacuation of Nigerian citizens currently in Israel and Iran due to the rising tension between the two countries.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, made this known in a statement released on Thursday in Abuja through the ministry’s spokesperson, Kimiebi Ebienfa.

Tuggar said the government is working hard to ensure the safety of all Nigerians in both countries and is making arrangements for their safe return home. He urged Nigerians in the affected areas to follow security guidelines and register with the nearest Nigerian embassy for further instructions.

“We are leaving no stone unturned to ensure the timely and secure evacuation of our people,” Tuggar said. “The government remains committed to the safety and welfare of all its citizens, both at home and abroad.”

He also praised the Nigerian embassies in Tel Aviv and Tehran for their efforts during the ongoing crisis, calling their dedication a sign of true service to the nation.

The foreign affairs ministry also called for peace, urging both Israel and Iran to end hostilities that have continued for seven days. It stressed the importance of working towards peaceful solutions for the safety of all civilians in the region.
