The Federal Government of Nigeria has placed Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi state, on its watchlist, instructing security agencies to arrest him at any entry or exit point.

This directive was issued by the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nanna Nandap, in a memo addressed to key security agencies in the country.

In the memo, signed by ACI DS Umar, Bello’s international passport details were provided, and it stated that he had been placed on the watchlist due to ongoing prosecution before the Federal High Court in Abuja for charges including conspiracy, breach of trust, and money laundering.

The memo read: “I am directed to inform you that the above-named person has been placed on the watchlist… If seen at any entry or exit point, he should be arrested and referred to the Director of Investigation.”

This action follows the declaration of Bello as wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Thursday, further underscoring the government’s determination to ensure compliance with legal proceedings and accountability.
