The Federal Government of Nigeria has withdrawn money laundering charges against Tigran Gambaryan, an executive of cryptocurrency firm Binance Holdings.

Gambaryan, a United States citizen, had been on trial for about six months following his arrest in Nigeria.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission announced the decision to drop the charges during a session at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday. The EFCC explained that Gambaryan, who is an employee of Binance, was not involved in the company’s major financial decisions.

Mark Mordi, Senior Advocate of Nigeria and Gambaryan’s lawyer, supported the EFCC’s decision, stating that his client was not responsible for the broader financial operations of Binance.
