FG donates relief items to Jigawa petrol tanker explosion victims

The Federal Government has provided food and relief materials to victims of the petrol tanker explosion in Jigawa State.

During the presentation, Hon. Tijjani Aliyu Ahmad from the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons spoke about the government’s commitment to helping those affected.

He said, “As you are aware, the NCFRMI is an agency of the federal government with the mandate to coordinate national actions for the protection, assistance, and provision of durable solutions for persons of concern, including IDPs, refugees, migrants, asylum seekers, returnees, and stateless persons.”

Ahmad highlighted the importance of these actions, stating, “In line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, NCFRMI is committed to ensuring peace and stability, especially for persons of concern in Jigawa State through impactful intervention.”

The items donated included:
– 200 bags of 25 kg rice
– 100 bags of 25 kg millet
– 200 cartons of spaghetti
– 200 bags of semovita
– 50 cartons of Maggi
– Rubber mats
– Blankets
– Children’s clothing
– Cooking oil
– Charcoal stoves
– Mattresses

Governor Umar Namadi has set up an independent committee to ensure fair distribution of donations, which total over N1.5 billion, to the families of 182 deceased and over 80 victims of the tragedy.

This donation is part of the government’s effort to support the victims and help them recover from the unfortunate incident.
