FG declares June 12 public holiday

The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, June 12, as a public holiday in honor of the 2024 Democracy Day celebration.

This announcement was made by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Aishetu Ndayako, in Abuja on Tuesday.

The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, conveyed the government’s well-wishes to Nigerians on this occasion. He emphasized the importance of reflecting on the sacrifices of the country’s founding fathers and maintaining unity.

He said, “As we mark another Democracy day in the history of our dear country, let us all reflect on the efforts of our founding fathers and ensure that Nigeria remains a united, secured, peaceful and indivisible entity”.

Tunji-Ojo called for a more secure, peaceful, and united Nigeria for the benefit of all citizens.

He encouraged Nigerians to uphold democratic principles and support President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to revitalize the economy and improve security.

Tunji-Ojo called on Nigerians and friends of Nigeria to appreciate the progress made and look forward to a better future for Nigeria’s Democracy.

He wished Nigerians a happy democracy day celebration.
