Bruno Fernandes began the 2021/22 season with a hattrick as Manchester United thumped Leeds United 5-1 at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

United entered the break with a slender 1-0 lead courtesy of the Portuguese magnifico after a sublime pass from French midfielder, Paul Pogba, who went o to register four assists in the entire game.

Leeds pulled one back through a stunning strike from Luke Ayling just three minutes into the second half but the goal appeared to have poked the hornet’s nest as United came roaring moments late.

Mason Greenwood restored United’s lead four minutes late after a sweet pass from Pogba before the Frenchman set up Fernandes for United’s third as they go two-goal up.

United weren’t done yet and Fernandes went on to register his first hat trick for the club. Victor Lindelof teed up the Portuguese who beat the offside trap before finding the back of the net to make it 4-1 in the 60th minute.

Pogba’s masterclass came to play once again eight minutes later as he set up Fred to score United’s fifth goal of the game and his fourth assist of the five-goal to send Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men atop the Premier League table.
