Femi Kuti to try record again after discovering record wasn’t held by Kenny G

Afrobeat superstar, Femi Kuti would be retrying his record feat soon. This is not because there were not enough witnesses, but because he actually broke Kenny G’s record not the world record.

Femi Kuti played for 46mins 38secs to beat jazz musician, Kenny G’s 45mins 37 secs, set in 1997.

However, the world record for the longest single note played is held by artiste, Vann Burchfield, who held a note for 47 minutes and 5.5 seconds in 2000. He was 37 years old then.

Femi Kuti achieved his feat in the presence of a large audience that included Sen. Ben Murray-Bruce, the deputy high commissioners of Netherlands and The United Kingdom, Femi’s sister, Yeni reported.

“Femi did it at 55 years old,” his sister, Yeni Kuti said on Instagram.

She also said the “Sorry Sorry” crooner would be attempting the feat again in two weeks time in the presence of the Guinness World Records officials to make it recognised. But now he really has a genuine reason to try again.
