Tragedy struck in Ilorin as the lifeless body of a 21-year-old student of the Kwara State College of Health Technology, Mojisola Awesu, was discovered at a refuse dump in the Aleniboro area of Ilorin, Kwara State capital

According to the PUNCH, Mojisola was reportedly hired by a friend to pose as a girlfriend at a party for the sum of N15,000 before her death.

The Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed the incident in a statement released on Tuesday.

The PPRO stated that Mojisola’s body was found on August 12, 2024, by some laborers in the Aleniboro area, who prompted the police operatives to visit the scene.

The body was subsequently identified as that of Mojisola Awesu and was taken to a morgue.

The police report revealed that on August 13, a missing person report was filed by one Miss Blessing, who identified herself as Mojisola’s roommate.

Blessing stated that Mojisola had left home to attend a party organized by students from two private universities in the state.

Providing further details, DSP Ejire-Adeyemi explained, “On August 9, Miss Mojisola received a phone call from a friend, Miss Timileyin, who informed her about a party organized by students from Summit University and Al-Hikmah University in Ilorin. Timileyin introduced Mojisola to one Mr. Adebayo Happiness, a student of Summit University, who allegedly invited her to the night party under the pretense of having her act as his girlfriend for a fee of N15,000.”

Upon arriving in Ilorin, Mojisola reportedly contacted her roommate, expressing discomfort about the hotel where she had been lodged by Adebayo Happiness. She also mentioned that there appeared to be no party at the said location.

Tragically, after this communication, Mojisola’s phone became unreachable, and all subsequent attempts by her roommate to contact her were unsuccessful.

Following the discovery of her body, the Kwara State Police Command launched an investigation and arrested several suspects in connection with the incident.

DSP Ejire-Adeyemi stated, “In light of these developments, the Kwara State Police Command has arrested suspects connected to the case. An investigation is ongoing, and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further discreet investigation.”
