Officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, in collaboration with security personnel, have uncovered an illegal oil refining warehouse in Mabushi, Abuja. The discovery occurred during an ongoing city cleaning exercise.

Mukhtar Galadima, Director of the Department of Development Control, FCTA, stated that the illegal refining site was uncovered opposite the Mobile filling station on Ahmadu Bello Way.

He revealed that about three to four plots of land designated for commercial purposes had been converted into an area for adulterating and distributing oil and diesel.

Galadima explained that the city sanitation task force would review the relevant laws and make recommendations to the FCT Administration regarding further actions on the plots used for the illegal activities. He noted that while no arrests were made, the items used for the refining process were seized.

During the continuation of our city sanitation exercise in Mabushi opposite the Mobile filling station on Ahmadu Way, we discovered an illegal refining site where oil and diesel are being adulterated,” Galadima stated. “We have done the needful by moving the items to the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps.”

He emphasized that the administration would continue to take strict action against unauthorized activities, including revoking property titles.

Furthermore, Deborah Osho, Head of Operations, FCT Directorate of Road Traffic Service, revealed that the city management team had also discovered during the exercise that many areas in Abuja had been converted into illegal car marts and motor parks.

She disclosed that 15 vehicles had been impounded since the operation began two days ago.
