The Federal Capital Territory Administration has approved a contract worth N9.8 billion for Julius Berger Plc to repair key link roads and facilities at the Presidential Wing of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
This decision came during the 9th Executive Council meeting held on Friday at the FCT Secretariat in Abuja.
The Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority, Shehu Ahmad, briefed journalists after the meeting, explaining that Julius Berger was awarded the contract, which is set for completion in six months.
“The contract will cover the rehabilitation of the link road from Bill Clinton Drive to the Presidential Wing, an access road to the Presidential Kitchen, repairs to the hangar for the presidential aircraft, and a holding centre for visiting presidents and dignitaries,” Ahmad said. He added that Julius Berger had previously been involved in managing parts of this facility.
Ahmad further noted the deteriorating condition of these roads and facilities, saying, “If you have traveled this road, you would know it is in a state of disrepair. Other facilities in the Presidential Wing have also shown signs of wear and need urgent attention.”
In addition to this project, the Council approved several other contracts. These include:
Access Road for EFCC Site: The Council awarded a contract for constructing a road to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s new site in Giri. The contract, given to Messrs Levant Construction Limited, is valued at N7.8 billion, with a nine-month timeline.
