FCT police denies killing, abduction of residents
The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has denied recent reports circulating about an armed attack in Galadimawa, dismissing claims of killings and abductions of residents.
Contrary to the earlier reports indicating that gunmen had terrorized the Galadimawa area, allegedly abducting 19 residents and causing the death of 12 victims, the Police Public Relations Officer of the FCT Command, SP Josephine Adeh, issued a statement on Wednesday to set the record straight.
After a thorough investigation, Adeh stated, “Following a careful examination of the allegations, it was clearly established that these claims are false and misleading, showing an intention, either deliberately or not, to misguide and instill fear in the public.”
The Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Haruna G. Garba, further reassured residents of Galadimawa and the entire FCT that the Police Command has deployed tactical and robust intelligence apparatus to ensure the security of life and property. CP Haruna emphasized the commitment of the police to maintaining peace and tranquility in the region.
In a warning to those spreading false information, CP Haruna urged residents to remain vigilant and emphasized the importance of accurate reporting.
He stated, “He stressed that this misinformation only serves to distort the prevailing peace and tranquility enjoyed by the residents of FCT.”
