Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command have arrested five suspected bandits who had been on the command’s wanted list and recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition during a targeted operation in Nasarawa State.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Saka Ajao Adewale, made the disclosure on Monday while briefing journalists at the command’s headquarters in Abuja. He said the arrests were made by the Scorpion Squad during a coordinated operation that ran from September 20 to 28, 2025.
He identified the suspects as Abdullahi Garba (alias Alhaji Ore), Yusuf Inuwa (alias Alhaji Dabunda), David Kaika (alias Baba), Baba Imaji, and Nasiru Ibrahim (alias Pepper). According to CP Adewale, the individuals are responsible for a series of high-profile kidnappings across the North Central, North West, and North East regions.
“These suspects have been on the wanted list of the Police Command and other security agencies for their involvement in violent crimes, particularly kidnappings,” he stated.
Recovered from the suspects were 2,186 rounds of live 7.62 x 39mm ammunition used for AK-47 rifles, two AK-47 rifles with obliterated serial numbers, one locally fabricated pistol with two live cartridges, and five operational motorcycles believed to have been used for their criminal operations.
“All the suspects have confessed to their crimes and will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations,” CP Adewale added. He noted that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang who are still at large.
While commending the gallantry and professionalism of the operatives involved in the operation, CP Adewale reassured residents of the FCT and neighbouring areas of the command’s unwavering commitment to combating crime and ensuring public safety.
He urged the public to continue cooperating with the police by reporting suspicious activities. He also provided the command’s emergency lines for such reports: 08061581938, 08032003913, and the Complaints Response Unit (CRU) line: 08107314192.
