FCT, Nasarawa to partner on rail, road development
The Federal Capital Territory Administration and the Nasarawa State Government have agreed to partner on developing rail lines and road transportation networks.
The agreement was reached during a Friday meeting between the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, and the Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, in Abuja.
Wike said the partnership is necessary to improve the connectivity between the two entities and boost economic development.
He said the FCTA will open discussions with the Nasarawa State Government on developing a metro rail line from Apo to Keffi and completing the road artery from Abacha Barracks to Masaka.
Wike said the metro line is a major priority for the FCTA and that efforts are in top gear to complete it in the next seven months.
He also said the FCTA is committed to working with the Nasarawa State Government to tackle insecurity in the area.
Nasarawa state governor, Abdullahi Sule welcomed the partnership and said it is in line with the Nasarawa State Government’s vision to make the state a major economic hub in the country.
He said the state government is willing to contribute its own resources to the development of the rail line and road network.
